![]() In 2003, Dean and Phyllis set down roots and purchased a winter home in Mesa Arizona. Often joined by his sister Lois and her husband Franklin. Phyllis and Dean could be found travelling south in their fifth wheel. In 2001, Dean semi-retired and became a snowbird. Dean coached minor hockey and minor baseball from 1978 – 1988. Raising their children with the values of community, a strong work ethic and a full sports schedule.Īs we all know Dean was an avid sports enthusiast enjoying curling, hockey, baseball (pitcher for the Preeceville Pats), snowmobiling and most importantly golf. Dean and Phyllis were blessed with a wonderful son, Chad Edwin in 1973, Ashley Kyle (deceased at birth), and a beautiful daughter Dana Lee in 1978. On August 26, 1967, married the love of his life and best friend, Phyllis Surcon. He was also a Lion’s Club member for over ten years and was the club’s president in 1973. He worked diligently to give back to the community he grew in and continued to make the town great. Dean served as a licensed pharmacist for over fifty years, from 1966 – 2016.Īs a pillar of the community Dean held the position of Alderman for the Town of Preeceville from 1976-1988. He enjoyed spending many hours at the store, filling prescriptions and keeping all of his customers happy. He returned to Preeceville and joined his father at Paul’s Drugs to continue the family legacy. Governor and member of Newton Kiwanis, Jasper County Historical Society, Newton Country Club, Newton Aviation Club, Iowa Senior Golf Association, Good Sam Camping Club and Midtown Coffee Club. & A.M., President of Peck Child Development Center, Lt. Paul was a longtime member of the Congregational United Church of Christ, Past Master of Newton Masonic Lodge #59 A.F. Paul loved his family and over the years enjoyed golfing, bowling, airplanes, camping and traveling. After the war, Paul began working for the Maytag Company, retiring in 1977 as a Tool Clerk. On Januat Camp Adair, Oregon, Paul was united in marriage to Mary J. When WWII began, Paul joined the US Army to serve his country. Following high school, Paul attended 2 years at Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, Missouri. He was a graduate of Newton High School, Class of 1939. As an infant, Paul was moved to Newton, Iowa. Paul, the son of Clyde Angus Peck and Vera Violet Porter was born Jin Ottumwa, Iowa. The family will greet friends following the Masonic service until 8:00 p.m. A public Masonic Service will be held 6:00 p.m. ![]() Friends may call at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home after 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Newton Union Cemetery. Thursday, May 29th at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Newton. Paul Edwin Peck died early Saturday morning in the Monarch Wing at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.įuneral services will be held 10:00 a.m.
